ABOUT Sristy for Human Society

Sristy for Human Society is a non-profit making Non Government Organization (NGO) working with the community people since its inception in the year of 1997. Aiming to its mission and vision it is facilitating community people to be aware about their basic human rights as well as to be empowered to utilize their resources at optimum level. It is also putting its effort to facilitate its clients and target communities to be self sufficient. As an organization in development sector it took its formal shape when it was registered in the year of 2000 under Societies Registration Act XXVI Of 1961.It is also registered under Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India under FCRA. From that doorstep till now it has faced several milestones of achievements, failures and challenges which are the learning experiences of this organization. The threshold of its journey has seen several ups and downs in the land of “working with the people” and it has firmly occupied its position in the heart of the people.

It started its work from Rajarhat Office, which is now operating as the head office. Besides that it has three-project offices at different districts in West Bengal. It has started its work by doing charitable activities as well as relief activities. From that small course of charitable and relief works now it has become a full fledged professional organization with professional ethics, values and principles, with its competent staff and with a proper and systematic working environment. Now it is professionally engaged in facilitating and empowering the people of the target communities. It is also directing its path to Right Based approach beyond service approach and direct intervention. From a rudimentary effort now it is the partner of development work of different Government Departments, NYK; Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Department of Environment and Forest Development, Rogi Sahayata Kendra under National Health Mission Govt. of West Bengal and various National and International Agencies, UNICEF, Action Aids Aangan Trust etc).

Sristy for Human Society is well structured Organization democratic in its environment and decision making. It has a General Body followed by a Governing Body. The Secretary of the Organization is the chief functionary who is also a Governing Body member. Secretary is the main responsible person who takes the decision for any action but that should be approved by the General Body and the Governing Body members.

Prime focuses of the organization are to show the right direction and to get social respect we rendering our service we work with Unorganized Labour in Kolkata and its neighboring Districts like North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Paschim Burdwan, Murshidabad, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Cooch-bihar. Here the main work is to collectivize unorganized labour with prime focus on domestic workers that consists of a large section of the unrecognized labour. In addition to equipping women with equal opportunity in social aspect we are wworking with government and non-government organizations in the last 21 years continuously with the help of establishment. We prefer to bring the children to the mainstreaming, To prevent child trafficking, to prevent school dropout, to prevent early marriage; with the priority of government planning, We are working very hard on the international border area of West Bengal (viz. Hasnabad, Basirhat, Lalgola & Bhagobangole). The illustrative work that is going on is really true.
